The fifth game in the custom robo series, custom robo arena moves the action into the portable realm again with the first entry on the ds. It is the first in the series to be released in pal territories, and the second in north america. The story has the player's character joining the robo team 'numero uno' and the story unfolds as they attempt to win the robo cup. Like all the custom robo games, except the gba incarnation, the battles are conducted in 3d, with the player attempting to defeat their opponent, in a pokémon fashion similar to the previous games. The touch screen is used to clean off the player's robo after it becomes dirty, as this reduces its efficiency. In another first it offers 2 player multiplayer over nintendo wi-fi and allows voice chat and utilises the rivals system seen in metroid prime: hunters.

Le cinquième jeu de la série Custom Robo, Custom Robo Arena déplace à nouveau l'action dans le domaine portable avec la première entrée sur DS. C'est le premier de la série à sortir dans les territoires palestiniens et le deuxième en Amérique du Nord. L'histoire montre le personnage du joueur rejoignant l'équipe de robots «numero uno» et l'histoire se déroule alors qu'ils tentent de remporter la coupe des robots. Comme tous les jeux de robots personnalisés, à l'exception de l'incarnation gba, les batailles se déroulent en 3D, le joueur tentant de vaincre son adversaire, à la manière d'un Pokémon similaire aux jeux précédents. L'écran tactile est utilisé pour nettoyer le robot du joueur une fois qu'il est sale, car cela réduit son efficacité. Dans une autre première, il propose un mode multijoueur à 2 joueurs sur le Wi-Fi Nintendo, permet le chat vocal et utilise le système de rivaux vu dans Metroid Prime : Hunters.
