A game endorsed by the american player who stunned the tennis world in the early 90s with his "image is everything" looks, sporting long hair, earrings and colorful shirts, andre agassi tennis includes eight players (male and female and as as expected, only agassi is a real player) rated according to movement speed and both accuracy and strength on serve, backhand and forehand. Gameplay features all the usual moves: smashes, passing shots, volleys and all kinds of backhand and forehand plays, but unlike other games, precise positioning and timing are crucial to avoid hitting the ball outside the court, swinging the racket into thin air or more embarrassing, let the ball hit you on the head. Three courts are available: grass, clay and indoor (sega versions add a fourth, hard), but the differences between them are minimal. Game modes change according to the version, with the 16-bit versions including a "skins" game, where each point is worth a sum of money based on the number of times the ball was hit.

Le gameplay propose tous les mouvements habituels : smashs, passes, volées et toutes sortes de jeux de revers et de coups droits, mais contrairement à d'autres jeux, un positionnement et un timing précis sont cruciaux pour éviter de frapper la balle en dehors du terrain, de balancer la raquette dans les airs ou, plus embarrassant, de laisser la balle vous frapper à la tête. Trois terrains sont disponibles : gazon, terre battue et indoor (les versions séga en ajoutent un quatrième, en dur), mais les différences entre eux sont minimes. Les modes de jeu changent selon les versions, les versions 16 bits incluant un jeu "skins", où chaque point vaut une somme d'argent en fonction du nombre de fois où la balle a été touchée.

Il gioco prevede tutte le mosse abituali: smash, passaggi, volèe e tutti i tipi di giochi di rovescio e dritto, ma a differenza di altri giochi, il posizionamento e il tempismo precisi sono cruciali per evitare di colpire la palla fuori dal campo, far oscillare la racchetta nel nulla o, cosa più imbarazzante, lasciare che la palla ti colpisca in testa. Sono disponibili tre campi: erba, terra battuta e indoor (le versioni Sega ne aggiungono un quarto, cemento), ma le differenze tra loro sono minime. Le modalità di gioco cambiano a seconda della versione, con le versioni a 16 bit che includono un gioco "skin", in cui ogni punto vale una somma di denaro in base al numero di volte in cui la pallina è stata colpita.
