Star jacker is an early vertical scrolling shooter with some interesting characteristics. The player starts out with three fighters with all of the fighters moving and shooting at the same time. Two fighters trail the lead fighter. Star jacker features a similar scheme with the namco game xevious in that the fighters shoot at enemy fighters in the air while dropping bombs on enemies and targets on the ground level. When any of the fighters is killed, the game momentarily pauses and re-centers the player fighters before continuing at the same point. The game is over when all of the player's fighters are destroyed. Star jacker allows no continues.

Star Jacker est un des premiers jeux de tir à défilement vertical avec des caractéristiques intéressantes. Le joueur commence avec trois combattants, tous se déplaçant et tirant en même temps. Star Jacker présente un schéma similaire à celui du jeu Namco Xevious dans la mesure où les combattants tirent sur les combattants ennemis dans les airs tout en larguant des bombes sur les ennemis et les cibles au niveau du sol. Star jacker è uno dei primi sparatutto a scorrimento verticale con alcune caratteristiche interessanti. Il giocatore inizia con tre combattenti e tutti i combattenti si muovono e sparano contemporaneamente. Due combattenti seguono il combattente principale. Star Jacker presenta uno schema simile con il gioco Namco Xevious in quanto i combattenti sparano ai combattenti nemici in aria mentre sganciano bombe su nemici e bersagli a livello del suolo. Quando uno qualsiasi dei combattenti viene ucciso, il gioco si ferma momentaneamente e centra nuovamente i combattenti del giocatore prima di continuare dallo stesso punto. Il gioco termina quando tutti i combattenti del giocatore vengono distrutti. Star Jacker non consente continui.
