Juuouki (set 7, Japan, 8751 317-0077)

The goddess athena has been abducted by the lord of the underworld. Her father, the great god zeus, searched for a brave warrior strong enough to save her. He chose a brave warrior who died with honour & courage on the battlefield. Zeus raised the warrior from the grave and granted him the power to morph into a powerful, holy beast in order to do battle against the unspeakable horrors of the underworld. Juuouki is a 1-player sideways scrolling beat-em-up. The game begins with the player controlling the human form of the resurrected warrior. During the levels the warrior will be attacked by a number of flashing animals. Destroying these creatures will result in an orb being dropped. If the player picks up an orb, he will begin his transformation from human into 'beast'. Once 3 orbs have been collected, the transformation is complete. In beast form the player's character is much faster and stronger than in the human form, and also has the ability to throw fireballs at the enemy. At the end of each stage, after the boss fight, the player's special powers are taken from him and he once again reverts to human form. The action in juuouki veers from being untypically slow-paced and sedate for a game of this nature, but the game's premise and graphical flair helped to separate it from other rivals of the genre.

La déesse Athéna a été enlevée par le seigneur des enfers. Son père, le grand dieu Zeus, recherchait un guerrier courageux et suffisamment fort pour la sauver. Il a choisi un brave guerrier qui est mort avec honneur et courage sur le champ de bataille. Zeus a ressuscité le guerrier de la tombe et lui a accordé le pouvoir de se transformer en une bête puissante et sacrée afin de lutter contre les horreurs indicibles du monde souterrain. Juuouki est un beat-em-up à défilement latéral pour 1 joueur. Le jeu commence avec le joueur contrôlant la forme humaine du guerrier ressuscité. Au cours des niveaux, le guerrier sera attaqué par un certain nombre d'animaux clignotants. La destruction de ces créatures entraînera la chute d'un orbe. Si le joueur ramasse un orbe, il commencera sa transformation d'humain en « bête ». Une fois 3 orbes récupérés, la transformation est terminée. Sous forme de bête, le personnage du joueur est beaucoup plus rapide et plus fort que sous forme humaine, et a également la capacité de lancer des boules de feu sur l'ennemi. À la fin de chaque étape, après le combat contre le boss, les pouvoirs spéciaux du joueur lui sont retirés et il reprend sa forme humaine. L'action de juuouki n'est pas inhabituellement lente et calme pour un jeu de cette nature, mais la prémisse du jeu et son style graphique ont contribué à le distinguer des autres rivaux du genre.

Se il giocatore prende in mano una sfera, inizierà la sua trasformazione da umano in "bestia". Una volta raccolte 3 sfere, la trasformazione è completa. Nella forma bestia il personaggio del giocatore è molto più veloce e più forte che nella forma umana e ha anche la capacità di lanciare palle di fuoco contro il nemico. Alla fine di ogni fase, dopo il combattimento con il boss, i poteri speciali del giocatore gli vengono tolti e lui ritorna ancora una volta alla forma umana. L'azione in Juuouki vira dall'essere insolitamente lenta e tranquilla per un gioco di questa natura, ma la premessa del gioco e lo stile grafico hanno contribuito a separarlo dagli altri rivali del genere.
