Defender

Defender is a side-scrolling shooting game set on the surface of an unnamed planet. The player controls a space ship as it navigates the terrain, flying either to the left or right. A joystick controls the ship's elevation, and five buttons control its horizontal direction and weapons. The object is to destroy alien invaders, while protecting astronauts on the landscape from abduction. Humans that are successfully abducted return as mutants that attack the ship. Defeating the aliens allows the player to progress to the next level. Failing to protect the astronauts, however, causes the planet to explode and the level to become populated with mutants. Surviving the waves of mutants results in the restoration of the planet. Players are allotted three chances (lives) to progress through the game and are able to earn more by reaching certain scoring benchmarks.

Defender est un jeu de tir à défilement horizontal se déroulant à la surface d'une planète sans nom. Le joueur contrôle un vaisseau spatial alors qu'il navigue sur le terrain, volant vers la gauche ou la droite. Un joystick contrôle l'élévation du navire et cinq boutons contrôlent sa direction horizontale et ses armes. Le but est de détruire les envahisseurs extraterrestres, tout en protégeant les astronautes présents dans le paysage contre les enlèvements. Les humains qui sont enlevés avec succès reviennent sous forme de mutants qui attaquent le navire. Vaincre les extraterrestres permet au joueur de passer au niveau suivant. Cependant, ne pas protéger les astronautes provoque l'explosion de la planète et le peuplement du niveau de mutants. Survivre aux vagues de mutants aboutit à la restauration de la planète. Les joueurs ont trois chances (vies) de progresser dans le jeu et peuvent gagner plus en atteignant certains points de repère.

Defender è un gioco sparatutto a scorrimento laterale ambientato sulla superficie di un pianeta senza nome. Il giocatore controlla un'astronave mentre naviga sul terreno, volando a sinistra o a destra. Un joystick controlla l'elevazione della nave e cinque pulsanti controllano la sua direzione orizzontale e le armi. L'obiettivo è distruggere gli invasori alieni, proteggendo allo stesso tempo gli astronauti sul territorio dai rapimenti. Gli umani che vengono rapiti con successo ritornano come mutanti che attaccano la nave. Sconfiggere gli alieni consente al giocatore di passare al livello successivo. Se non si riesce a proteggere gli astronauti, tuttavia, il pianeta esplode e il livello si popola di mutanti. Sopravvivere alle ondate di mutanti porta al ripristino del pianeta.
