Jurassic Park

One of many games based on the 1993 blockbuster jurassic park, the version for sega's 8-bit systems combines side-scrolling shooting action and platforming levels. In each of the five stages of the game, one escaped dinosaur species must be recaptured. Each level begins with a side-scrolling driving section. Dinosaurs attack the car and must be fend off by firing at them with a crosshair. If the player survives long enough, a boss battle against an especially powerful dinosaur follows. After the completion of the driving section the level continues with a platform section. The player must jump, duck and climb to survive moving lifts, floors that will crumble under his feet, environmental hazards like acid drops, steam leaks or giant boulders and more. Dinosaurs will of course also stand in the way, but can be defeated by using several weapons: a rifle, a grenade launcher and hand grenades. Navigating the often maze-like levels will lead to the dinosaur that must be captured and a corresponding boss fight. The first four levels (featuring a velociraptor, pteranodon, triceratops and brachiosaurus) can be tackled in any order, but the final level, featuring the tyrannosaurus rex, is only unlocked when the others have been completed.

Dans chacune des cinq étapes du jeu, une espèce de dinosaure échappée doit être recapturée. Chaque niveau commence par une section de conduite à défilement latéral. Les dinosaures attaquent la voiture et doivent être repoussés en leur tirant dessus avec un réticule. Si le joueur survit assez longtemps, un combat de boss contre un dinosaure particulièrement puissant s'ensuit. Une fois la section de conduite terminée, le niveau continue avec une section de plate-forme. Le joueur doit sauter, esquiver et grimper pour survivre aux ascenseurs en mouvement, aux sols qui s'effondreront sous ses pieds, aux dangers environnementaux comme les gouttes d'acide, les fuites de vapeur ou les rochers géants et bien plus encore. Les dinosaures feront bien sûr également obstacle, mais ils pourront être vaincus en utilisant plusieurs armes : un fusil, un lance-grenades et des grenades à main. Naviguer dans les niveaux souvent labyrinthiques mènera au dinosaure qui doit être capturé et à un combat de boss correspondant. Les quatre premiers niveaux (avec un vélociraptor, un ptéranodon, un tricératops et un brachiosaure) peuvent être abordés dans n'importe quel ordre, mais le dernier niveau, avec le tyrannosaure rex, n'est débloqué que lorsque les autres sont terminés.

In ciascuna delle cinque fasi del gioco, una specie di dinosauro fuggita deve essere riconquistata. Ogni livello inizia con una sezione di guida a scorrimento laterale. I dinosauri attaccano l'auto e devono essere respinti sparandogli contro con un mirino. Se il giocatore sopravvive abbastanza a lungo, segue una battaglia contro un boss contro un dinosauro particolarmente potente. Dopo il completamento della sezione di guida, il livello continua con una sezione con piattaforma. Il giocatore deve saltare, abbassarsi e arrampicarsi per sopravvivere ad ascensori in movimento, pavimenti che crollano sotto i suoi piedi, rischi ambientali come gocce di acido, perdite di vapore o massi giganti e altro ancora. Naturalmente anche i dinosauri saranno di ostacolo, ma potranno essere sconfitti utilizzando diverse armi: un fucile, un lanciagranate e bombe a mano. La navigazione nei livelli, spesso labirintici, porterà al dinosauro che deve essere catturato e al corrispondente combattimento con il boss. I primi quattro livelli (con velociraptor, pteranodonte, triceratopo e brachiosauro) possono essere affrontati in qualsiasi ordine, ma il livello finale, con protagonista il tirannosauro rex, verrà sbloccato solo quando gli altri saranno stati completati.
