River City Ransom

The evil slick has kidnapped ryan's girlfriend and taken over the high school. The player is cast as either ryan or alex (second player) and has to fight his way through river city's merciless gangs before confronting slick and freeing his girl. River city ransom is a side-scrolling beat-em-up similar to double dragon. The player, or players, travel through the locations of river city, encountering various gangs along the way. Gang members can be defeated with punches and kicks, or beaten up with objects scattered around. Upon their defeat, gang members drop money which alex and ryan can spend in malls to buy items that restore health and improve their combat abilities. The main characters have rpg-like numerical stats that can be improved this way, and can also buy books to learn combat manoeuvres. To finish the game, the player(s) have to find and defeat all the bosses.

Le joueur incarne Ryan ou Alex (deuxième joueur) et doit se frayer un chemin à travers les gangs impitoyables de River City avant d'affronter Slick et de libérer sa fille. River City Ransom est un beat-em-up à défilement horizontal semblable à Double Dragon. Le ou les joueurs voyagent à travers les lieux de River City, rencontrant divers gangs en cours de route. Les membres de gangs peuvent être vaincus à coups de poing et de pied, ou battus avec des objets éparpillés. Après leur défaite, les membres du gang lâchent de l'argent qu'Alex et Ryan peuvent dépenser dans les centres commerciaux pour acheter des objets qui restaurent la santé et améliorent leurs capacités de combat. Les personnages principaux ont des statistiques numériques de type RPG qui peuvent être améliorées de cette façon, et peuvent également acheter des livres pour apprendre les manœuvres de combat. Pour terminer le jeu, le(s) joueur(s) doivent trouver et vaincre tous les boss.

Dopo la sconfitta, i membri della banda lasciano soldi che Alex e Ryan possono spendere nei centri commerciali per acquistare oggetti che ripristinano la salute e migliorano le loro abilità di combattimento.
